The Mechanical Flea Houses – 02/04/2022

Mechanical Flea Houses

I had a dream … and in that dream I was invited to a little old lady’s house for a cup of garlic tea (yes that’s right. I even watched her as she squeezed the garlic clove, letting the juices drain into the cup)

Her house was a cozy little metal cottage, comfortably settled in a well loved garden. Plants and flowers and trees all around. There were other houses scattered around. They all looked suspiciously bug shaped. Inside was crowded with a lifetime of collected homewares. Warm and appealing. She led me up a set of stairs (that seemed very unstable for my own liking, not sure how a little old lady braved them every day) and into her bedroom. While sitting and waiting for my garlic tea I noticed all the furniture were rocking things: rocking chairs, rocking tables, rocking beds … everything. My mind concluded these rocking things were for when the houses migrated to the north for the winter. On cue I look out a small round window to see other houses in the distance. Long lanky legs they slowly made their way around the open plains. They looked an awful like giant, metal fleas to me. I was somewhat jealous, I wish I had a giant, metal, walking flea-house.

I might add this to a story one of these days.
